TOWN OF LAFAYETTE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Wisconsin Grocers Association honored two local businessmen for their contribution to the grocery industry in Wisconsin.

Jeff and David Schafer of Gordy's County Market received the Excellence in Operations Award on Thursday at the Gordy's Lake Wissota store. The organization says the award recognizes those in the industry who are on the front lines, and are instrumental in the success of their stores. Jeff Schafer said it was quite the surprise.

"We're very excited about this award, and serving our communities that we're in," Schafer said. "We're about our communities, and taking care of them, and being a part of them. So, we're looking forward to that, and keep on going."

This is the 11th year the Wisconsin Grocers Association has presented the award.
