(WEAU) - Now that the winter season is in high gear with lots of snow, many of us are ready to pack our bags and go on vacation.
In the world of traveling, it’s never too early to book your winter vacation.
"I've got people already booked for next year, on a cruise," said Denise Petricka Vice President of Higgins Travel Leaders.
Denise Petricka with Higgins Travel Leaders says cruises are really popular. But, people also like saying goodbye to Wisconsin snow and hello to warm weather.
"We've got people booked into Hawaii, into Mexico. Mexico is still our number one destination," said Petricka.
Many travelers say they go online to book vacations and find the best deals, like one traveler from Germany visiting Eau Claire until February.
"Half a year in advance, usually it’s the cheapest when you book these long flights half a year in advance,” said Stefan Knauff.
Denise says that sometimes it’s not even worth it trying to find the best deals when purchasing your airfare. You could miss on deals earlier on in the season, and you can actually miss your holiday vacation for waiting too long."
"Vendors will have stuff available in June for the following winter and more time than not that's when the prices are, they too as many seats in aircraft out in service if you," said Petricka.
We caught up with another traveler from Eau Claire, but lives in California. Now she is on her way to have another holiday vacation with friends in Ecuador.
"I decided in October and I looked at flights and I looked at flights from Minneapolis to Ecuador and then Ecuador back to southern California,” said traveler, Ivy Berg
But if you do plan on traveling during the holidays, there are annoyances along the way.
"Remembering to put all my little liquids in a little baggie and the carry on requirements," said Ber.
Plus, you might want ship your presents before you get on the plane.
"There's so many things the TSA does not allow as carry-ons and not only that, I've known them to open packages, in suitcases as well that are checked bags," said Petricka.
