COMMUNITY FIRST: Hands on Eau Claire coming up May 10

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A new event is aimed at cleaning up boulevards on two main roads in Eau Claire.

Hands on Eau Claire is from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on May 10. The Eau Claire Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department is asking people and groups to volunteer to pick up trash along the boulevards of Clairemont Avenue and Hastings Way. The department will supply garbage bags, and arrange to have the trash removed.

People who participate are also invited to a post-event party at Hobbs Ice Center on Menomonie Street. Lunch is provided and organizers will give out raffle prizes. You can sign up by emailing Gina Emmerich at
