EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A health department has shut down Half Moon Beach because of concern over bacteria levels.
The Eau Claire City-County Health Department announced the closure on its website Wednesday. It says the beach will stay closed until it can re-check bacteria levels.
The department tests the water at public beaches every week during the summer to keep tabs on bacterial levels. It closes beaches when those levels become too high, or the beach receives three or more inches of rain in 24 hours.
