Health care court ruling unlikely to spur action
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The U.S. Supreme Court's ruling expected Thursday in President Barack Obama's health care overhaul law is unlikely to result in any swift reaction in Wisconsin.
Gov. Scott Walker put a stop to implementing health insurance exchanges in January, saying he wanted to wait until after the Supreme Court ruled.
Earlier this month Walker went even farther, saying even if the law is upheld he will not do anything until after the elections, hoping that the next president and Congress will repeal it.
Republican state lawmakers say they are on board with that approach, even as Democrats and health care advocates say the state needs to move forward with consumer protections and other provisions in the federal law.
