Heavy snow causes barn to collapse

ROCK FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- The heavy wet snow damaged roofs, and even caused a barn to collapse. That happened early Thursday near Rock Falls. The owners weren't inside, and no one was hurt.

Dick Dahl owns the farm. He says it was built way back at the turn of the century. It hadn't sustained any damage before Thursday.

Dahl says he was heading inside his house for lunch, when he heard snapping, wood-busting, and then saw the whole barn go down.

He says he has no idea what it will cost to replace or rebuild the barn. For now, he says he has other concerns.

“I'm concerned about other roofs, I guess. There is not much you can do about it, with such heavy snow, you can't brush it off, you just have to take a chance, I guess,” added Dahl.

Dahl says he's just relieved that it was only the barn that went down, and not his house or other buildings in on his farm.
