EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- Hundreds made their way to UW Eau Claire today to take on the slippery roads in the Shamrock Shuffle 5-K run/walk.

Runners gathered at McPhee Physical Education Center, trotted down the Garfield Hill from Upper Campus then went across a foot bridge, along a bike trail, and down Clairemont Avenue to finish back at McPhee, where they had plenty of room to cool off.

The WEAU-sponsored event was emceed by WEAU's Chris Herzog.
Race coordinator Brittany Matti says she was excited to see so many people show up.

“A little nervous that people weren't going to show, but we had a ton of walk ups, almost a thousand people pre-registered, so the community support for this race has just been phenomenal,” said Matti.

The money raised goes to the free Wisconsin youth success program summer camp in Eau Claire.
