MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) -- Nearly a month after an officer-involved shooting in Neillsville, a state agency says the investigation is still ongoing.
On Thursday, a spokeswoman from the Wisconsin Department of Justice told WEAU 13 News that reports on the shooting haven't been finished yet. There's no word on when they may be finished. The spokeswoman says it isn't unusual for these types of investigations to "take some time." Once the investigation is finished, the findings will be forwarded to prosecutors.
On December 13, Officer Aaron Bembnister, 24, of Neillsville responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Grand Avenue in Neillsville. The Clark County Sheriff's Office says Ricky Taylor, 23, of Neillsville went up to Bembnister, and was told several times to drop a knife. That's when Bembnister shot Taylor. Bembnister is on administrative leave during the investigation.
