Investigation into Eau Claire gas prices underway

(WEAU) - An investigation into gas prices in the City of Eau Claire is in its early stages.

Wednesday, Councilman Dave Duax says the Fiscal Policy Advisory Committee got an update from the four UW-Eau Claire students doing the research. He says they are currently mapping pipeline routes. The students will also apply for a grant to buy software that would let them monitor wholesale prices versus retail prices weekly, to watch for markup rates.

Duax says the committee did learn that the gas coming into the Eau Claire area is coming from Minneapolis, not Duluth as previously thought.

He says it could take until after October to get results on the investigation.
