Kathryn Bess Gorman chosen Miss Wisconsin 2012

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- 23-year-old Kathryn Bess Gorman of Onalaska has captured the Miss Wisconsin 2012 crown.

The Miss Wisconsin Pageant said Gorman, who entered as Miss La Crosse/Oktoberfest, bested 22 other women for the title at Oshkosh West High School's Civic Auditorium. She was crowned Saturday night by Miss Wisconsin 2011, Raeanna Mary Johnson of Holmen.

Gorman, who won the Miss Wisconsin title on her second attempt after competing in 2008 as Miss Onalaska, is a 2012 communications and elementary art education graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She will compete for the title of Miss America in 2013.

First through fourth runners-up were, respectively: Miss Heart of Wisconsin, Kathryn Marie Williams, 23, of Wisconsin Rapids; Miss Seven Rivers, Elizabeth Anne Kramer, 22, of Holmen; Miss New Berlin, Raquel Faye Bruening, 20, of New Berlin; and Miss Heart of the Valley, Desiree Sue Geffers, 24, of Oshkosh. Geffers made history this past week by becoming the first contestant to compete at the state pageant a record five times. The UW-Oshkosh graduate was second runner-up last year, and placed third
runner-up in 2010.

16-old Madeline Morgan, a classical pianist from Oregon, was named Miss Wisconsin Outstanding Teen 2012.

This was the 50th year anniversary of the state pageant being held in Oshkosh.
