Kind talks about visit to Afghanistan
(WEAU) - Representative Ron Kind made a stop in Eau Claire Monday afternoon to talk about a recent trip he made overseas.
Kind went to Afghanistan to visit national guardsmen and meet with high ranking U.S. and Afghan government officials. Kind told us that the trip was meant to look into a variety of defense and security issues.
“We should be accelerating the timetable for withdrawal and turning over security responsibility to the Afghans. It's their country, it’s their future only they can do it ultimately and the repeated deployments are taking a toll on our troops and our communities,” Kind said.
It was Kind's second trip to Afghanistan.
