LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- People who are from La Crosse said it’s a community with a lot to offer.
“It’s got a small town feel, but there’s enough people where it’s still exciting,” said Parker Rabe.
“It’s beautiful the river’s right there. There’s so much to do, and we have a lot of great schools here,” said Allison Mikelson.
“It’s a great atmosphere for college kids, and it’s also a great family town too. Just the different areas of the city, and the diversity is great,” said Charles Langsdorf.
“Schools are great here, it’s very historic, there’s a lot to do when you really dive into the downtown area,” said Cody Strasser.
La Crosse was ranked second on the Movoto Real Estate blog’s list of Ten Most Exciting Small Cities in America.
Movoto is an online real estate brokerage based in California.
Some factors used to determine the rankings include outdoor recreation opportunities, night life and percentage of residents between the ages of 20 and 34.
“I agree with it. It’s pretty cool. I like it, from here, pretty proud of it,” said Rabe.
“I grew up here, so I was kind of surprised by it at first, but I think now that I’m a college student I can see how it made number two,” said Mikelson.
“I think it’s great. I think it’s well deserved,” said Langsdorf.
“Growing up here you think of it as an average town, but now that we’re on the map it sounds pretty cool,” said Strasser.
La Crosse Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Dave Clements said La Crosse has received a lot of national recognition over the last few years, and it’s nice to get more.
“This is just another example of why it’s a great place to live, work and play here, raise a family here and enjoy life here,” said Clements.
Hoboken, New Jersey took the top spot on the list.
