LADYSMITH, Wis. (RUSK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE) -- On October 11, 2013 at 9:50PM, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office with the assistance from the Ladysmith Police Department, Wisconsin DNR Warden and the Rusk County Ambulance Service responded to a two car traffic crash with injuries at the intersection of Maple Hill Road and Tower Road located just outside the City of Ladysmith. It was reported that three people were injured as a result of the traffic crash.
The injured were transported to Rusk County Memorial Hospital. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, a Benjamin W Coughenour, age 18 of Ladysmith, was air lifted to another hospital with very severe injuries as a result of the traffic crash.
On October 16, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Rusk County Coroners Office that Mr. Coughenour died as a result of the injuries sustained in the traffic crash. This is Rusk County's first traffic fatality for 2013. The investigation into the crash is continuing by the Rusk County Sheriff's Office.
