APPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- Tens of thousands of Wisconsin drivers continue to drive even though their licenses have been suspended or revoked.

A Post-Crescent Media report says more than 74,000 people were convicted last year or driving with a suspended license. Another 14,000 people were convicted of driving with a revoked license.

Town of Menasha police spokesman Jason Weber says suspending a license doesn't seem to be must of a deterrent. He says people are generally caught only if they're involved in a collision or commit a traffic violation.

Appleton Police Capt. Todd Freeman says operating while suspended is a common offense that officers see daily.

Driver's licenses can be suspended or revoked for reasons including failing to pay fines or being convicted of, drunken driving.
