Local business plans $5,700,000 expansion in Eau Claire

MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) -- A Chippewa Valley business is planning a $5,700,000 expansion.

On Tuesday, the Office of the Governor announced the plan for Riverside Machine & Engineering. It's expected to create 20 jobs. A release from the governor's office says Riverside has run out of room at its facility on Cashman Drive in Chippewa Falls, so it's moving to Eau Claire. The company is buying and renovating a 159,000-square-foot building near Alpine Road that used to house Hutchinson Technology. It expects to move in this summer. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is loaning Riverside $1,000,000 for the project, but the company has to create all 20 jobs, retain more than 70 existing jobs, and maintain them until 2019.

Riverside serves the defense, aerospace, electronics, and health care industries. It does precision machining and aluminum vacuum furnace brazing.
