Local church helps with cleanup at Country Jam

TOWN OF UNION, Wis. (WEAU) -- After several days of country music, the Country Jam grounds were home to a different sound on Sunday.

With rakes in hand, 38 people from Cedar Creek Community Church in Eau Claire helped cleanup trash left behind on the grounds.

Members from the church have been pitching in for the past decade.

Although the lawn is very dry this year, organizers say that helps with the trash removal which takes a couple hours.

“I think it's a neat opportunity for us to be out here and serve the community a little bit, cleaning up after the super stars are done singing, it's time for the rest of us to take care of the trash,” says Pastor Mike Downie.

The cleanup is all part of a fundraiser for the church.

Downie says they hope to use the money for a new 80-inch TV screen for services.
