Local church partners up with 4-H kid's club for charity

Eau Claire, Wis. (WEAU) -- Dozens of kids grabbed their sewing needles and old sheets to give to those less fortunate.

The First Lutheran Church and the kid's 4-H club paired up for the first time today to make bandages and basic medical assistance items to support the "Global Health Ministries" that basic first-aid to many countries around the world.

The materials for the bandages were donated by Mayo Health System. The bandages made will be shipped out to 27 different third-world countries.

“It’s vitally important. We take for granted that we can go to a drug store anytime we need a medical item, and it will be on the shelf. And the countries that “Global Health Ministries” serve, they don't have that option"

54 kids and adults volunteered their time today. Besides bandages the group worked on quilts that will be donated to local shelters.
