(WEAU) - Local hospitals are seeing an increased number of patients with the flu.

WEAU.com contacted Sacred Heart and Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire.

At Sacred Heart, they've already seen 37 people with the flu just since the start of the year.

Last flu season, the hospital saw just 32 cases the entire season.

At Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire, 119 people were tested, 45 were positive. That's a 38% positivity rate. These numbers are from Jan 1 through part of Jan 10.

Not all patients that show flu-like symptoms are tested, per recommendation from the state Dept. of Health.

Thirty people have been hospitalized with the flu at Mayo Health System Eau Claire.
