Local officers serve at Red Robin to help Special Olympics

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Red Robin and law enforcement officers teamed up to raise money for a special cause. It's called the "Tip-a-Cop.”

Officers in Eau Claire helped serve up lunch and dinner and all the tips went to local Special Olympic athletes.

Last year the event raised $3,000 and organizers said this year they are hoping to top that.
Eau Claire Police, the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department, the Pepin County Sheriff's Office, and criminal justice students helped serve on Saturday.

“Special Olympics has a very long term partnership with law enforcement and we couldn't raise the money that we do without law enforcement,” said Karen Kraus, the regional director of development for Special Olympics Indianhead Region.

Red Robin restaurants across the country hosted the event
