Local salon tries to break world record, raises funds

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- An Eau Claire didn't set a world record for the number of hair colors in 24 hours, but still raised money for two very good causes.

Destiny Jackson and the Altered Ego Salon almost beat the individual record for the most hair colors at 62. Jackson was able to do 60 individuals' hair coloring.

The team of five stylists performed 198 hair color services on 155 people. The world record is 360 but with ten stylists in a 24 hour period.

The money raised will go to Touched Twice United and a girl named Kyra who suffers from Spina Bifida. The salon says it will have a fundraising total Monday.

An Eau Claire salon is on target to set a world record.

Destiny Jackson and her Altered Ego Salon are on their way to breaking the individual record for most hair colors performed in 24 hours, which is 62.

A team of stylists are also attempting to break the group record of 360 hair colors done in 24 hours. The stylists started at six Friday morning and have until Saturday to break the record.

"Just come out and be a part of it and help change your community and just help touch the lives of so many people while you are doing something fun," said owner, Destiny Jackson.

As they try and break the record, the salon is also raising money for Touched Twice United and for a girl named Kyra, who suffers from Spina Bifida.
