ELEVA, Wis. (WEAU)-- A local family got a huge surprise Wednesday afternoon thanks to an area car dealership.
Jeannene Nelson was handed the keys to a new car after being nominated to the Morries Mazda 90 Days of Giving program by a teacher in the Eleva Strum School District.
In December, Jeannene and her 12-year-old son, River, were in an accident on Clairemont Avenue. River is still recovering from his injuries at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Since the accident, Jeannene has been without a car. On Wednesday, she thought she was going to the school to see her daughter get a scholarship, but instead, got a Grand Prix!
"So I showed up today riddled with guilt for not seeing my son, and now i can see my son,"
Jeannene says this car changes everything. Besides the car from Morries Mazda, the recipients get $500 worth of gas from Gordy's County Market.
