Lutheran Social Services holds Mom's Day 5k run/bike ride to celebrate open adoption

Eau Claire (WEAU)- Saturday morning at Phoenix Park in Eau Claire, Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan held this year's Mom's Day Adoption 5k run/walk and bike ride. More than 200 people showed up on a beautiful day to celebrate the adoption plans birth moms have made. A day to honor the selfless, and courageous acts of love.
For Michelle Olson and daughter Vivian, it's a special day to share with her birth mother Tracy Offord. Michelle says, "It's been wonderful for our family and for Tracy's family to stay in contact with open adoption. So Tracy as a birth mother made a big decision as a young college student and is still a part of our daughter's life and a part of our life. So every year we like to celebrate birth Mother's day the day before Mother's Day, and we look forward to it in years to come that Vivian will know her birth mother and her story on how she came to join our family."

Proceeds from Saturday's Mom's Day 5k and bike ride go to support local charities in Western Wisconsin.
