APPLETON, Wis. (WEAU)-Lutheran Social Services says it will close seven facilities in Eau Claire.

About 44 workers will be affected by the closings. LSS says the layoffs are permanent.

In a letter to the state dated February 4, the agency says it was unable to cover the costs of running the programs with the reimbursement it receives for its services. The Eau Claire facilities that are closing are on S. Valley View Place, Kilbourne Ave., Shady Grove Rd., and Violet St.

The closings will happen on or around April 15.

The organization’s website says LSS has a total of more than 1,400 employees. It provides services to people with a variety of disabilities and other conditions.
