Man accused of beating pregnant woman is charged

PRESCOTT, Wis. (WEAU)--A man accused of attempting to kill his unborn child has now been charged.

18-year-old Jessy Holtzkamp is facing three counts including attempted first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child.

Prescott Police say last Wednesday, Holtzkamp hit a 27-year-old woman, who is pregnant with his child, several times. It says the woman was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

PRESCOTT, Wis. (WEAU)--A pregnant woman who police say was beaten by the father of her unborn child, is out of the hospital.

The Prescott Police Chief says the 27-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and has since been released but didn't know her condition.

Investigators say 18-year-old Jessy Holtzkamp was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child and battery. He's accused of hitting her several times in the stomach to try and end the pregnancy.

Charges are expected to be filed.

PRESCOTT, Wis. (WEAU) – Officers have arrested a man for attempted homicide of an unborn child.

The 18-year-old man from Prescott, who was not identified in a news release from the Prescott Police Department, was taken to the Pierce County Jail.

Police say they responded to a “local motel” on Wednesday night. They found that a 27-year-old woman had been staying with the suspect at the motel. He’s believed to be the father of the unborn child. The couple is not married. They had been arguing, and that’s when officers say he hit the woman in the stomach several times to cause a miscarriage. The woman was taken to the hospital.

Charges are pending with the district attorney’s office.

PRESCOTT, Wis. (PRESCOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) - Prescott police have arrested an 18-year-old Prescott man for attempted first degree intentional homicide of an unborn child and domestic-related battery, Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko announced.

“On Wednesday, July 10 at 8:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local motel on an emergency medical services call of a possible miscarriage of a pregnant woman,” Chief Bondarenko said. “Our investigation revealed that the woman, a 27 year-old Prescott woman, had been staying at the motel with the 18-year-old man, who is allegedly the father of the unborn child. The couple, who are not married, had been involved in a domestic argument. During the argument, the man allegedly struck the woman in the stomach several times in order to cause a miscarriage and end the pregnancy.”

The victim was transported to a Hastings, Minn. hospital for treatment.

The 18-year-old man was taken to the Pierce County Jail. Charges are pending with the Pierce County District Attorney’s Office.
