Man accused of causing fatal crash last July pleads guilty

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The man involved in a deadly crash last year on Clairemont Avenue was in court Wednesday.

Online court records show Travis Hazelton, 36, pleaded guilty to several charges Wednesday, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and reckless driving causing bodily harm.

Hazelton is accused of driving drunk on July 20th of last year, and slamming the van he was driving into 5 stopped cars at the intersection of Clairemont Avenue and Cameron Street.

Jesse Shreiner, 26, who was riding with Hazelton at the time, was killed in the crash, and five others were hurt.

His sentencing is scheduled for January.
