LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU)--A La Crosse County man has been arrested for putting an indentation into his 8-week-old daughters' head.

The La Crosse County Sheriff's Department report says 21-year-old Robert Schmidt was arrested Monday for physical abuse of a child. It says that on Sunday morning, the child's mother had to be woken up by a neighbor to get up and go to work. It says she left the crying infant next to Schmidt in their bed.

Deputies say he admitted to being frustrated with what had happened that morning, and as he turned over angrily to check on her, he hit her in the forehead with his elbow.

It says infant suffered a cranial fracture and bleeding in the back of her brain.
