FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (WEAU)--A jury has convicted the man accused of killing his mother and hiding her body on his property in Adams County.

61-year-old Larry W. Clark was found guilty of several charges including first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse, and identity theft.

FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin man accused of shooting and killing his mother says he didn't report her death right away because he was more concerned with making sure her puppy would be OK.

Larry W. Clark of Big Flats is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the 2010 shooting death of Marcella Clark.

A Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune report says he testified Thursday that if he called police he'd end up in jail right away. He said that could have meant trouble for her cocker spaniel puppy because he hadn't yet trained it to interact with people.

Clark says he fired his handgun by accident and then passed out. He says when he awoke his mother was dead on the kitchen floor.

Closing arguments were expected to take place Friday morning.
