EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (EAU CLAIRE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE) -- At 11:30 A.M. the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office was called to an address on North Elco Road. The caller reported that he had been threatened by a neighbor, later identified as 33 year old Ricky Draeger. When the deputy attempted to speak to him Draeger broke the rear view mirror off from a nearby vehicle and attempted to assault the deputy. The deputy attempted to subdue Draeger with a T.A.S.E.R. but was not successful. Draeger got into a vehicle and fled the scene. The deputy, assisted by officers from the Altoona Police Department pursued Draeger northbound on Elco Road and eastbound on County Highway SS. Other deputies and Chief Dachel from the Fall Creek Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle by deploying stop sticks but Draeger was able to avoid them. The pursuit turned northbound on County Highway K. A Sheriff’s Office supervisor determined that the pursuit was becoming too dangerous and ordered the pursuit terminated. Draeger’s vehicle was last seen northbound on County Highway K approaching the Chippewa County line.
A short time later deputies from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office located Draeger at a tavern in Boyd and took him into custody. Draeger is currently in the Eau Claire County Jail.
