Man accused of shooting girlfriend in Sawyer County

SAWYER COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU)-- A Louisiana man is accused of shooting his girlfriend outside a resort in Wisconsin.

The Sawyer County Sheriff's Department says it got a call around 2 a.m. Saturday from a person at Ray Jay's Restaurant saying that 52-year-old Kerry Stevenson was screaming and had blood on him.

Deputies learned Stevenson shot his gun outside a nearby resort and that his girlfriend was hit in the head. She was found and taken to the hospital where she is in critical condition.

Stevenson is being held in jail for possible charges connected to the shooting and for being a felon in possession of a firearm. His bond was set Tuesday at one million dollars cash.
