Man accused of speeding, running red light charged with reckless driving

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) The man accused of causing a crash on Eau Claire's south side is now free on bond.

Online court records show Lucus Tait, 30, from Chippewa Falls made his initial court appearance Thursday.

He faces several charges, including reckless driving and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent.

The crash happened July 23rd at the intersection of County Road I and South Lowes Creek Road.

The criminal complaint says Tait was driving nearly 100 miles an hour, when the speed limit was only 35. It says he ran a red light and hit an SUV.

No one in the SUV was injured.
