Police arrested Mares for Robbery with Use of Force. No criminal charges have been filed in the case.
UPDATE: Court records show that prosecutors filed a charge of Robbery with the Use of Force against Blake Mares, 19, of Eau Claire on Friday. A judge set bond at $5,000 cash.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (EAU CLAIRE POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) - On Sunday, August 18, 2013, at 6:27 a.m., Eau Claire Police patrol officers responded to a report of a strong armed robbery that had just occurred at a residence on Market Street in the City of Eau Claire.
Upon arrival officers met with the victim who stated that earlier in the night he met several individuals at a house party and invited them back to his residence. After the group left his residence, he went into his bedroom. Upon exiting his bedroom he was confronted by one of the unknown males who had previously been in his residence. That male struck him in the face and demanded money from him. After striking the victim in the face several more times, the unknown male took a sum of money from the victim and left the residence.
Eau Claire Police Department detectives conducted follow up investigation that led them to identify the suspect as Blake L. Mares who ultimately admitted to committing the crimes. Mares was arrested and booked into the Eau Claire County Jail.
