Man arrested following standoff with police in Chippewa Falls

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) – A Chippewa Falls man has been arrested following a standoff with police this morning.

It happened around 10 a.m. in the 600 block of Allen Street in Chippewa Falls.

Officers say police were doing a welfare check on 24-year-old Daniel Heyde.

He didn't answer the door, though officers confirmed he was likely inside with a gun.

That's when police evacuated the area.

Officers negotiated with Heyde until he said he would come out of the apartment.

Before doing so, police say he fired his gun inside and then dropped it when he came out.

Heyde was alone in the apartment and no one was injured.
