DUNN COUNTY, Wis (WEAU) --
The Wisconsin State Patrol said troopers arrested 27-year-old Jimmy L. Koch of Mondovi for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle.
It happened around noon Saturday on I-94 at mile marker 38 in the westbound lane.
Troopers said an officer stopped Koch for excessive speed and an unlawful lane deviation on I-94. Upon approaching, the trooper detected the odor of a controlled substance coming from the vehicle.
As a result of the roadside investigation and field sobriety tests, Koch was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, 1st Offense with a Minor Passenger, Possession of THC, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Koch was transported to Mayo Health Systems Red Cedar Hospital-Menomonie by the arresting Trooper for a blood draw. Koch was then transported to the Dunn County Jail.
There were two passengers in the vehicle at the time of the arrest. One of the passengers was an adult female from Mondovi who was also under the influence of a controlled substance. The second passenger was a 9 month old child. The passengers were transported to the Dunn County Sheriff's Department by a second Trooper, who referred the case to personnel from the Dunn County Child Protective Services who were awaiting their arrival.
