Man arrested for OWI causing crash in Buffalo Co.

Nabor Lezama Alvarez, 28 years of age, from Durand, WI has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense.

At approximately 4:10 p.m. a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper responded to a two vehicle crash. A vehicle with two occupants, was stopped at a red stoplight in the northbound lane of State Highway
25 and Fox Coulee Road at the bridge construction. Another vehicle was also northbound, at a high rate of speed, that was driven by Nabor Lezama Alvarez. Mr. Lezema Alvarez failed to stop and struck the rear of the vehicle that was stopped at the red light, causing severe rear end
damage. The driver and passenger of the vehicle that was struck suffered minor injuries, but refused medical transport to the hospital. Mr. Lezema Alvare was not injured.

A subsequent investigation of the crash by the Trooper resulted in Mr. Lezema Alvarez being arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated 1st offense and operating without a valid drivers license
3rd offense. He was transported to the Buffalo County Jail and turned over to jail staff.

The incident remains under investigation by the State Patrol and additional charges may be pending.

"Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty."
