Man arrested for sexual assault of minor in New Richmond

NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (RELEASE FROM NEW RICHMOND POLICE DEPT.)-- March 1st 2014 at approximately 1:17 a.m. a New Richmond Police Officer observed a suspicious vehicle (bearing Ohio License Plates) parked in the Woodland Creek Park, having the vehicle windows cloudy and fogged over.

Further investigation by the Officer revealed that there were two male occupants inside the vehicle, ages 15 years old and 22 years old. Both males were undressed and initially laying underneath a blanket at the time.

Upon questioning by the Officer it was found that the 22 year old male, a resident of Cridersville Ohio had driven up to New Richmond WI to meet with the 15 year old male (resident of New Richmond WI) in the City of New Richmond. Initial questioning of the 22 year old male at the scene, indicate the two males were having a sexual relationship. This male indicated to the Officer that he had first met the 15 year old over the internet.

Officers arrested the 22 year old male for “Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Minor” and transported him to the St. Croix County Jail where he was incarcerated.

A Department Detective was called in to assist the Officers on the street. Officers at the scene seized 2 cell phones, one laptop computer and one ipad. In addition Officers impounded a 2008 Honda CRV.

Department Detectives are working with the Ohio Authorities and Federal Authorities, as the investigation continues. The 22 year old male will make an initial court appearance in St. Croix County Circuit Court Monday afternoon.
