Man arrested in Altoona standoff is charged

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU)-- Charges have now been filed against the man police say was involved in a standoff with police in Altoona.

Leonard Pope, who is 28 and from Altoona, faces misdemeanor charges in Eau Claire County of bail jumping and disorderly conduct.

Pope was arrested after Altoona police were called to a domestic disturbance at a home on Hayden Avenue Monday night. That's where officers say they found Pope drunk and throwing things around the front yard. They say he ran back inside the house and refused to come out. He was later found hiding in a crawl space and was arrested. Police say he had been drinking, which is a violation of his bond.

Pope was scheduled to make his initial appearance in court Wednesday.
