NEW INFORMATION: Man arrested in domestic situation near Stanley

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (CHIPPEWA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE) -- On Wednesday July 2nd, 2014 at about 7:06 AM the Chippewa County
Sheriff's Office responded to a reported domestic incident involving a 54 year old male suspect with a firearm holding a 47 year old female victim hostage within the residence of 12070 County Highway H in the Town of Delmar, Chippewa County.

The Chippewa County Sheriff s deputies responded along with the Chippewa County Emergency Response Team, The Eau Claire Regional SWAT Team was called for assistance. The female escaped the residence after the male suspect reportedly fell asleep in the residence. The male suspect later exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Individuals name(s) will not be released at this time due to further investigation.
TOWN OF DELMAR, Wis. (WEAU) -- Officers arrested a man after calling in a SWAT team to respond to a domestic situation Wednesday morning.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says the man gave himself up after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies responded to a house on County Road H around 7:30 a.m. on a report of a man taking his girlfriend hostage. The man who called in the report also said there were weapons in the house. When investigators arrived, the woman had escaped. Once investigators set up a perimeter around the house, the man turned himself in.

The suspect was taken to the Chippewa County Jail. Crews shut down a stretch of County Road H. Investigators were still looking through the house after 11 a.m. Wednesday. There was no immediate word on what was found inside. We'll have more information on this story as it becomes available.
