The Nelson Fire Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol both helped out at the scene of the crash. It remains under investigation.
ALMA, Wis. (WEAU) -- A man is in jail on suspicion of fourth-offense OWI after a crash that left a teenager with life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened on Friday afternoon on County Road D near County Road I, which is near Nelson. The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office says Robert Burda, 42, of Nelson was driving a car, that rolled and ended up on its top. A 16-year-old girl was thrown from the car and pinned underneath it. Rescue crews got her out, and she was flown to a hospital in Eau Claire. Deputies say she was not wearing a seat belt. Burda went to the hospital with minor injuries. Two other teenagers in the car did not report any injuries.
The sheriff's department says speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. Burda was arrested on suspicion of 4th Offense Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Injury, and taken to jail. No criminal charges have been filed.
