EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- A man accused of sexually assaulting a patient at an area hospital was in court Monday.

The Eau Claire County District Attorney's office says 68-year-old John Lizan was found guilty of second-degree sexual assault of a mentally ill victim but not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Lizan was committed for 15 years to the Department of Health and Family Services. Another court hearing is scheduled for February 10th to discuss his conditional release plan.

The criminal complaint says in 2012, Lizan assaulted a patient at Sacred Heart Hospital. It says Lizan told officers he didn't know what he was doing because of his illness. Lizan was also staying at the hospital.
