MADISON, Wis. (RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF U.S. ATTORNEY JOHN W. VAUDREUIL)- Roy G. Ramsey, 45, no permanent address, is charged with transporting stolen goods from Wisconsin to Missouri. The indictment alleges that on June 29, 2012, Ramsey transported from Wisconsin to Missouri merchandise stolen from Wal-Mart stores in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire, Wis., and from a Kmart store in Eau Claire, with a cumulative value of $5,000 or more.
The indictment also charges him with transporting merchandise stolen from Wal-Mart stores located into other states into Wisconsin on January 10, 2013, and that the cumulative value of the merchandise was $5,000 or more.
If convicted, Ramsey faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison on each count. The charges against Ramsey are the result of an investigation by the Lake Hallie, Eau Claire, Rice Lake, Beloit, and Town of Sand Creek Police Departments; Missouri State Highway Patrol; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of this case has been assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy M. O’Shea.
