SPARTA, Wis. (WEAU) - Investigators believe alcohol factored into a crash that left a man with critical injuries.
It happened early Friday morning on State Highway 16 near Hazel Road, which is west of Tomah. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department says a pickup truck was heading west on highway 16 around 4:20 a.m., when the driver, Landon Wilson, 21, of Sparta, crossed the center line. The truck went into the area of the ditch on the south side of the highway, then swerved back across the highway. It hit several trees, damaged a fence, and ended up in the ditch on the north side of the highway.
Wilson was trapped, and rescue crews had to pull him from the truck. He was taken to the hospital.
