NEW INFORMATION: Man charged with injuring three officers while being arrested

(WEAU) - A man police say ran away from a hospital and assaulted three deputies is now charged.

Robert Schafer, 25, faces several counts including battery of a peace officer. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says last week, Schafer violated a restraining order and was shot at a home in Taylor.

Schafer was taken to the hospital but ran off, and ended up in Black River Falls.

When deputies went to arrest him, he fought and hurt three of them.

(WEAU) - A man deputies say was shot at a home in Jackson County is behind bars Wednesday night.

Deputies tell us Robert Schafer, 25, violated a restraining order and went onto the property of Lori Peterson, 44. A man at Peterson’s home warned Schafer to stop but he refused so the man shot Schafer.

Schafer was taken to the hospital but the sheriff says he ran away and ended up in Black River Falls. When deputies went to arrest him, he fought and hurt three of them.

He's now in the Jackson County Jail.
