(WEAU) - An Adams County man charged with shooting and killing his girlfriend has pleaded not guilty.
Coleman Dybul is expected to head to trial, but a future court date has not been set. Investigators say Dybul, who is a decorated Marine, called police earlier this month claiming he had accidentally shot his girlfriend, Toni Voss, 27, after she startled him.
According to the criminal complaint, Coleman Dybul told officers on March 2, around 2 a.m. he fired a shot from the rifle he kept near his bed after he thought an intruder had broken into his house and was attacking his girlfriend.
Dybul said he turned on the light and begun applying pressure to her chest, and called 911.
Voss was pronounced dead at the scene.
