MERRILL, Wis. (AP) -- A man who sheriff's officials believe is connected to a widespread methamphetamine operation has been captured in Milwaukee.

Lincoln County sheriff's authorities say 37-year-old Christopher Meindel of Merrill has been on the run since May when he removed his ankle monitor and fled. Deputies issued a statewide alert for Meindel who they said was armed and had threatened police.

Daily Herald Media says Meindel was arrested at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Milwaukee Thursday. Officers say Meindel had several edged weapons, two airsoft guns and methamphetamine in his possession.

He's facing a long list of charges in Lincoln County, including manufacturing methamphetamine. Court records do not list a new attorney for Meindel's after his lawyer was withdrawn from the case last September.
