Man suspected of driving under the influence during Barron Co. crash

BARRON, Wis. (BARRON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) -- On Friday, July 11, 2014, at 9:04 p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a possible intoxicated driver that ran over a mailbox north of Chetek. A description and plate number was given out to deputies and a short time later this vehicle was located near Chetek.

The driver of the vehicle was Patrick Prendiville, 40 from Chetek, and he was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence 8th offense and issued another citation for operating while revoked. He is currently being held in the Barron County Jail on this charge and a probation hold.

As of today, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 45 people for OWI in the county for 2014. For all of 2013, we had 82 total OWI’s. This is a good reminder that this offense is preventable but only if you choose not to drive after you drink.
