TOMAH (WEAU) – New information is coming to light in the case of the man whose decomposing body was found in a hotel room almost a year after he was reported missing.

Tomah police say the cause of Kurt Lieburn’s death is unknown, but that officers don’t have any information to lead them to believe he died of anything other than natural causes. An autopsy was performed on February 6. Final results haven't been released.

Lieburn’s body was found on a bed at a room at the Park Motel in Tomah on February 3. He had been reported missing in March 2011.

Police say the manager of the Park Hotel in Tomah told them there shouldn’t have been anybody in the room where Lieburn was found. That manager told the Tomah Police Department that the room had plumbing issues and a door that jams. The last person to rent it had been Lieburn.

The manager went on to say that Liburn had been staying at the Park Motel off and on for nearly a decade, but that she hadn’t seen him since December 2009.

TOMAH (WEAU) -The Tomah Police Department is investigating the death of a man in a motel room.

Officers say on February 3 they responded to the Park Motel in Tomah for a report of a man who died in a room. Initial information shows that motel staff entered a room that had not been rented for an extended period of time to do repairs and maintenance work. That’s when they found the man, who is identified as 41-year-old Kurt H. Lieburn. Lieburn had been reported missing by family in March of 2011.

Officers say they don’t know how long Lieburn may have been living in the room without the knowledge of motel staff or how long he was in the room after his death. An autopsy has been performed and findings are pending.

The Tomah Police Department and the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office are still investigating this death.
