A man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his arm.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department says 76-year-old Russell Oelke of Ferryville went to the Wooden Nickel Saloon in Ferryville with the injury. Oelke told officers he was out checking his traps. When returning to his vehicle, Oelke, who was carrying a .22 caliber rifle, stated that the rifle slipped out of his hand, hit the concrete, and discharged, hitting him in the left forearm.
Oelke was able to drive himself to the saloon where he sought medical attention. He was taken to the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital.
The case is still under investigation.
