EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A Marshfield man accused of stealing more than $5,000 in rings during a Christmas party in Eau Claire now faces criminal charges.

On Tuesday, prosecutors filed charges of Burglary and Theft as a repeater against Bradley Welch, 42, of Marshfield. Investigators say Welch tried to sell the rings to jewelry stores. When he wasn't allowed to sell them without identification, he had a friend sell one of them. Welch later admitted to the crime.

Court records show that Welch is free on a signature bond. He is due in court April 8. If convicted, he could face almost 19 years in prison.
