MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WEAU) -- Officers are investigating the circumstances leading up to the death of a man who was hit by a train.

On Wednesday, the Marshfield Police Department identified him as George Humphrey, 21, of Marshfield. Crews responded to the railroad crossing at the intersection of E. Veterans Parkway and N. Vine Avenue in Marshfield around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday. They had received a report that a Canadian National train had hit someone near the crossing. They found Humphrey had been seriously hurt.
