Mayo Clinic employee skis to work

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) (WEAU) Following Thursday's massive winter storm, an employee at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire didn't want to spend Friday morning digging out her car, so she skied to work instead.

Candie Gross trudged down the Birch Street hill and then strapped on her cross-country skis to glide the rest of the mile trek to work.

Gross says this is only her second season skiing and she's still learning, but thought it would be the easiest way to make it in through the heavy snow.

"I didn't want to undo my van. It's kind of a low rider and it was buried and I was like, 'Nope. I'm just going to take the skis," explains Gross.

Seven employees at the Eau Claire hospital spent the night so they could make it to work today.
